Ruchika S. Designs was born in 2024, but its roots stretch back much further. The brand grew from a moment of shared inspiration when one afternoon my husband looked at my mixed-medium illustrations and saw something I hadn't yet considered: the potential for those designs to come to life on fabric. Knowing my personal obsession with scarves, he asked, 'Why not?' and that finally sparked the courage to create for myself. This brand is the result of that trust, a collection of home and fashion accessories born from love and artistic evolution. My illustrations moved from paper and canvas to wearable art and functional pieces with a collaborative vision. 

Ruchika S. Designs represents that growth: a fusion of traditional motifs, modern watercolor, and a deep commitment to craft. The roots of my creativity are dyed in the rich hues of my childhood in India. I remember being captivated by the textures around me, from the gold-threaded saree borders to the ancient motifs that draped every occasion. There is one hue that has always lived within me: blue. From the deep, soulful indigos of traditional Indian textiles to the clear, airy teals of my watercolor sketches, it is the color I return to most. Today, in my studio, you’ll still find me reaching for blue more than any other shade on the spectrum, it is the constant thread that connects my childhood memories to my modern designs.

I am deeply inspired by abstract art for its ability to express human emotion, while also drawing from the timeless beauty of traditional motifs and florals. At Ruchika S. Designs, I bring these influences together to transform everyday living into a canvas of elegance—whether through a painting or a hand-printed textile. Authenticity lies at the heart of my work, where every design begins by hand, from block printing to painting a single flower that becomes part of a larger story. I embrace this slow, thoughtful process, refining heritage-inspired palettes for the modern world to create pieces that feel both timeless and new.
